The word Joshik is an Indian name meaning Satisfaction, Pleasure, Approval, Happiness, and With ease. These words used to describe the brand Joshik Polish are truly befitting considering the fact that Jojo (the founder of the brand) had no idea about them until recently. To Jojo it was simply  a combination of her two names Jojo Wanjiku (short name shiku) making Joshik. How exhilarating it must have felt when she googled the name and found the positive and wonderful words alongside the name she chose a while back.

DSC08268DSC08203 I believe that this amazing nail polish collection embodies strength, beauty, femininity and a bright future. A  bright future you ask? Globally, women and men alike have been part of a great movement  to use healthy and less harmful ingredients in not only  the food sector but also in the manufacturing of cosmetics. Have you ever asked yourself what ingredients are used in the manufacture of your favourite nail polishes? Well, I can’t really say I have but I am grateful Joshik went through the trouble of doing so during her research before coming up with this brand. This is because it helped her come up with a product that is 5 free, meaning it is free of:

  1. Formaldehyde
  2. Toluene
  3. Dibutyl Phthalate
  4. Formaldehyde Resin
  5. Camphor

The above mentioned are all toxins that are found in other mainstream nail polishes and are harmful to your health. They specifically are not good for those with asthma, pneumonia and other related breathing complications.

What I really loved about this brand is not just the fact that it is 5 free, cruelty free and vegan  but the lovely array of colours they come in.

On Friday, the 28th of August, Joshik polish marked its official launch in Nairobi, Kenya in a very simple yet sophisticated launch at the Dari restaurant. Here are some of the pictures we were able to capture. I hope you enjoy.DSC08180DSC08123

Also, as if that was not enough we the audience were each gifted with a bottle to go home with. How awesome is that?DSC08150I went with the one on the right branded, ‘Believe’

If you are interested in Joshik Polish, they will be showcasing at the Sarit Centre for the Hair, Beauty and Personal Care Expo 2015 this weekend starting from the 4th to the 6th of September.
